LEARNING TO MANAGE ACCOUNTS
On June, 7th, we finished the cycle of Tallers d’Educació Financera – Workshops of Financial education, that volunteers of the Associació de voluntaris de “La Caixa” have given to a group of users of Som – Fundació.
Some of the workshops have taken place in Caixaforum of Barcelona and others have been carried out in entities such as Fupar, Ampans i Fundació Maresme in Terrassa, Manresa, and Mataró, respectively. These institutions left us their headquarters and have also gave us support in each session.
The excellent network among all the entities made possible that 28 persons participated in the different workshops addressed to improve the management of their economies adapting the content of the workshops to their needs:
- 19 persons made a workshop to understand better how to manage their pocket money and learn to save small quantities of their weekly payment in order to treat themselves
- 9 persons participated in a workshop addressed to users that live in a Project of independent life, with budgets and a more complex financial management.
- Finally, 13 persons took part in a workshop to know deeper how credit cards and ATM work.
The assessment, whether by volunteer or by persons with intellectual disabilities that participated in these workshops was very positive. On one hand, volunteers showed a great interest on knowing the reality of their economies in order to adapt the workshops to the users. They went closer to the world of the intellectual disability and they knew from a close distance the task of our Foundation. On the other hand, the persons we attend participated in a very active way, asking a lot of questions and showing a lot of interest.
